Solid state batteries can reduce carbon footprint

Battery manufacturers forecast that solid state batteries will be used in EVs in the second half of the decade, according to the latest study from transport & environment.
A solid state battery, which stores more energy with less materials, can reduce the already decreasing carbon footprint of an electric car battery by a further 24%, the study finds.

Compared to to current lithium-ion, solid state batteries are lighter, faster to charge and eventually cheaper.

If solid state batteries are made using the most sustainably sourced materials, they can reduce the climate impact of batteries by 39% compared to current lithium batteries.
