Path to EV Adoption: Consumer and Dealer Perspectives | Cox Automotive

This report examines the rapid growth of electric vehicle (EV) consideration among U.S. vehicle shoppers, despite EVs accounting for less than 8% of total sales in 2023. Affordability is a major barrier, and there’s a significant gap in readiness between consumers and dealerships. Dealers look to OEMs for support in learning about EVs, especially charging and batteries. Equipping dealerships with EV servicing capabilities is crucial in the near term, given the high likelihood of EV buyers having already made their purchase decision before visiting a dealership. The report provides insights and recommendations to bridge these readiness gaps and enhance EV adoption.
